iPod touch frozen

iPod Touch has frozen while opening word doc. and now won't shut down or turn off. HELP !!

Hold the Home button down for 5 seconds

Holding the Home button down for 5 seconds should cause the OS to kill the current application and return to the Home screen.

I believe holding both the Home and Power buttons at the same time for a few seconds will cause a reboot. If the first method doesn't work for you, this definitely will.

Incidentally, how big and what version of Word is the file you're trying to open? TouchFS uses the system viewer to view Word files, so it should exhibit the same behavior as if you tried opening this file from Safari or Mail. If that's not the case, I'd like to know about it.

iPod touch frozen

Tried holding the Home button for 5 sec. Tried holding them both. Nothing. Frozen on!!
The file was a 33.8 MB 97 - 2004 microsoft word doc.
The problem was solved finally by waiting till the battery ran down to nothing.

I then tried Touch FS again with the same file 2 more times and each time a complete freeze and wait for the battery to go flat.

I have taken Touch FS OFF my ipod until updates make it work better.
Disappointing that it doesn't work.

Thank you for your reply.

Can you email us the problematic file?

The behavior for viewing Office documents is only going to change or improve with iPhone OS updates from Apple. TouchFS uses the built-in system viewer for Office files just like Mail and Safari. I'm interested in knowing if either of those iPhone apps can open your file.

I know it's a large file, but can you zip it and email it to our support address so we can try it out in iPhone Mail and iPhone Safari?

BTW: You can find more information about TouchFS's Office file behavior in this forum topic.
