Uploading PDFs
Hi there, I am new to all of this and am having trouble uploading files to my iphone. I am not quite sure what to do.... I typed my IP address in my web browser and successfully logged on but from there i can't upload files. I am wanting to upload large (1.0-150MB) PDF files. Is touchFS capable of this? And also how do you delete files?
Thanks

Welcome! TouchFS is
Welcome! TouchFS is definitely capable of this, but in the current version, file uploads w/your web browser do not work–which is why we never advertised the fact that you can even use your web browser to connect...you've discovered a soon-to-be-released feature. (Consider yourself a TouchFS Explorer! *smirk*)
You'll need to connect with your computer's WebDAV connection ability that it should have built in. Click the "?" button in TouchFS and read the basic documentation on how to connect w/your specific operating system.
If you're still having trouble connecting, drop our support email address a line, or continue posting here. We'll get you up and running.
In the next update due out in a few weeks, file upload w/a normal web browser will be available. It won't be as nice as connecting directly via WebDAV as described in the app's Help file, but it will be functional.
As for deleting and otherwise managing your files on your iPhone, you'll be able to do all of that once connected as described. You can move/rename/delete from your computer...just not from your web browser.
Thanks! That seemed to work,
Thanks!
That seemed to work, although I did manage to crash my iphone trying to open an 87MB PDF... I guess I won't be able to see that one!
Error trying to move files
Hi,
I've set up the connection between my Mac (running OS 10.5 Leopard) and I've tried moving a some files across but nothing seems to go through. I tried to transfer some PDF's but it mentioned some eorror about the file names not being supported - even though there's nothing unusual about the file names. My 32GB iPod Touch is running software version 2.0.
Also I tried to use my Mac to make some new folders on the Iphone to organise the files I was planning to transfer and anytime I tried to "Create a new folder" in the server location (where the sample docs are) I got and error message -37. However an untitled folder has appeared on my iPhone by my Mac can't see it to transfer into it or rename it. Very confusing and frustrating.
Any ideas? Functionality is practically zero.
Thanks
We're Here To Help...and have some questions
Let's see what we can do for you...we know you can connect w/the Finder at least, so your network is probably not at fault.
Do you have the latest software updates installed in Leopard? Anything else running that may interact w/your network? Firewall running?
Does it work any better if you turn authentication on or off in the TouchFS Options screen?
Do any other ports besides 8080 work better? (Change the port in the Options screen. If you choose a different port, make sure it's greater than 1024...stick w/the 8000+ range to be safe...and make sure to use the same port number when you connect again)
To rule out whether it's something in the Finder/OSX settings, can you try connecting from the free Cyberduck utility? There's some initial screenshots showing how to set it up here.
Are you able to rename or delete any of the existing sample files with either the Finder or Cyberduck?
Any other information you can provide will help us resolve this with you. We've been able to get all other Leopard users up and running w/o much of a problem and I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of this for you as well.
