Cocoa Resources That Don't SuckCocoa Resources That Don't SuckRegal Media brings you Cocoa and other Apple technology resources that you can put to use to develop great software more easily. This site is my attempt to kick start the type of Cocoa community resource that I feel is desperately needed. While there are quite a few sites discussing Cocoa topics, all too often they're just someone's blog, or some forums whose threads contain tons of "yeah, me too", or "I wouldn't do it that way" responses. I feel there's a dearth of quality "content" in the form of articles and tutorials. There's also very little information about components or frameworks that could be incorporated into your own projects. I’m puposely using Drupal to keep this from turning into a site like that. Regal Media will be all about quality Cocoa content. The posted articles should be the main attraction. That being said, we have discussion forums set up for posting questions and answers as well. We're also hosting a collection of smaller articles called "Tips", which are small, quick tips/tutorials about accomplishing something in Cocoa. These will mimic the Quickies at Borkware, but hopefully will be updated more frequently... ...which leads me to my main point. Regal Media is supposed to contain content for the Cocoa community, by the Cocoa community. Any registered user can post an article, a tip, or a forum topic. If you just solved a particularly difficult problem with your code, or just had one of those "aha!" moments when you figured something out, post an article about your experiences. Our vision for Regal Media is to become the first place you'll come to solve a Cocoa development problem or learn about other ways of accomplishing something in code. Anything is fair game...from obvious beginner questions like "How do I close a window?" to architecture and best-practice type questions. If you know how to do something that could be helpful to other Cocoa developers, please share it here. Also...since the site is just starting out, please send me feedback. I want this to be community run and want to make it as easy as possible for people to post content and search through it. --Paul |
